.. en dus niet veel waard deze dagen. Maar wel de kans gehad om dit jaar ook een bolleke rood te maken op de grote griepmeting.

As some of you remember, I started running last year. It turned out to be hard to keep up the frequent runs. And on top of that, the Nike+Ipod chip I bought last January broke down on me after only 10 months. So I had reasons enough to stop running for a few months:
I purchased a new chip last week, restarted my training-schema and made some plans for a few runs this year:
The Antwerp 10 Miles (April 22)
This one I will run with the team of Kite Consultants, a young, dynamic and (hopefully very) sportive consulting company based in Antwerp. So, friends at Kite, take this a “yes” to the question if I will join you in Antwerp!
Not only a great run, but it will be my first time to go trough the Kennedy Tunnel while running!
The 20 KM of Brussels (May 25)
As I missed the last edition, I will make sure to get in shape and run the most popular belgian running event.
The New York Half Marathon (July 27)
If I manage to plan this in my schedule and if I can get a starting place…
The Boston Half Marathon (October 12)
As the next event of the Citrix Summit will not take place in January ’09, but in October ’08, I could as well try to make a detour via Boston and add this one to my schedule. Not only do I like the city of Boston very much, but I hope to meet Rafael again in New York or in Boston. I met him during this summers half marathon in New York. He has been running to raise funds in the research for autism, and will do so in 2008 (even if he changed the game a little bit this year

Sinds een paar dagen, waarschijnlijk sinds ik de laatste updates van Microsoft Office had geinstalleerd op mijn PC, zat ik in Word totaal vast. De muis reageerde totaal niet in het document, wel in het menu. Dus geen selectie, rechtermuisbuttoncommando’s en zo meer. En dat twee dagen voor ik een taak voor mijn MBA dien in te leveren, uiteraard.
Ik kreeg flashbacks naar één van de grootste offertes die ik ooit (samen met een team van meer dan 10 man gedurende 8 weken non-stop) had beantwoord, en we een paar dagen voor de deadine ons masterdocument niet meer geopend kregen in word. We hebben toen Open Office gebruikt en hebben de offerte tijdig kunnen inleveren. Dat evenement is nu bijna twee jaar geleden, en sindsdien al zo vaak van systeem veranderd dat ik op mijn huidige portable geen open office heb staan…
Maar daarmee was mijn probleem niet opgelost. Erger nog, wanneer ik word afsloot, kreeg ik telkens dit scherm:
Nadat word meer dan 20 maal crashte op deze manier, kwam een tooltje van office me zeggen dat ik nu toch wel vele malem word incorrect had afgesloten en of ik een check wilde uitvoeren. Checks gedaan, maar op het einde was ik terug waar ik eerder beginnen was. Googlen dan maar.
Dankzij een blog van Tim Anderson, ben ik op het spoor van de oplossing gekomen. De boosdoener bij mij is Technsmith SnagIt, een fijne tool om screenshots te nemen en te verwerken. Ik gebruik de tool zeer frequent, dus uninstall was geen oplossing… Blijkbaar wordt hetzelfde issue ook veroorzaakt door andere programma’s. De step-by-step uitleg van Tim hebben me zover gebracht dat ik opnieuw min of meer normaal kan werken, maar word blijft crashen bij het afsluiten.
